Pending IACVAC Supported Legislation

SB 3479Amends provisions of the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act concerning deceptive practices targeting veterans and military members. Changes the definition of "veteran or military benefits services" to any services offered or provided to a veteran, military member, or family member who is entitled to receive benefits under federal, State, or local law, policy, or practice as a result of, at least in part, qualifying military service.

SB 2315Amends the Illinois Income Tax Act. Provides that, for taxable years ending before December 31, 2028 (currently, December 31, 2023), when calculating the standard exemption, the basic amount shall be $2,050 plus a specified cost-of-living adjustment. Effective immediately.

H.R.3933 - To amend title 10, United States Code, to authorize representatives of veterans service organizations to promote certain benefits available to veterans in the course of preparation counseling under the Transition Assistance program of the Department of Defense, and for other purposes.

H.R. 4249 - To amend title 38, United States Code, to furnish hospital care and medical services to veterans and dependents who were stationed at military installations at which the veterans and dependents were exposed to perfluorooctanoic acid or other per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, to provide for a presumption of service connection for certain veterans who were stationed at military installations at which the veterans were exposed to such substances, and for other purposes.

H.R. 815 - To amend title 38, United States Code, to make certain improvements relating to the eligibility of veterans to receive reimbursement for emergency treatment furnished through the Veterans Community Care program, and for other purposes.

H.R. 984 - This bill authorizes the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to provide grants to states and Indian tribes to implement programs that improve outreach and assistance to veterans and their families to ensure that such individuals are fully informed about veterans' benefits and programs.

H.R. 1139 - This bill imposes fines on individuals for soliciting, contracting for, charging, or receiving any unauthorized fee or compensation with respect to the preparation, presentation, or prosecution of any claim for Department of Veterans Affairs benefits. The attempted commission of such offenses is also punishable by fine.

H.R. 1822 - To amend title 38, United States Code, to improve the review of claims for benefits under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs..

H.R. 2971 - To amend title 38, United States Code, to promote assistance from persons recognized by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for individuals who file certain claims under laws administered by the Secretary.

S. 106To amend title 38, United States Code, to authorize the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to award grants to States to improve outreach to veterans, and for other purposes.

H.R. 4262To direct the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to provide for the online administration of the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for other purposes.

H.R. 1530This bill addresses certain requirements related to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical disability examinations for purposes of benefit claims and other administrative matters related to the benefit claims processes and personnel.

We are in a time where veterans need all the support possible. Our legislative committee has set and aggressive goal of getting bills initiated and passed at the State Level.  This can't be done without our members help.
 

These bills are vital and need to passed. Contact your elected officials and urge them to support Veterans, support the bills or co-sponsor the bills. Call, email or better do both. You’ll be amazed what this simple gesture accomplishes.
